NO ONE'S WITH THE CALVES

It's another hot and unfulfilled summer that Christin is spending in her home village in Mecklenburg. Her days of boredom and loneliness are interrupted when Klaus, a wind power engineer from Hamburg, appears.

It is at the height of summer in a village in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. There are no more than five houses and a bus stop in this village. All around are fields where cows graze. Christin lives on the dairy farm of her long-time boyfriend Jan. The spirit of optimism of the post-reunification years that characterised her childhood is long gone and there has been no love in her relationship for a long time. Christin's father is a heavy drinker and Christin has also found her silent companion in a small bottle under the car seat. In the shimmering heat of summer, time seems to stand still. When wind power engineer Klaus from Hamburg arrives in the village one day, it sets something in motion in Christin.

Based on the novel of the same name by Alina Herbing, Sabrina Sarabi's NO ONE'S WITH THE CALVES takes a look at life in the provinces. She tells of growing up in loneliness, the idyll, the vastness and at the same time the narrowness that characterises such a life.
